Phrases ending in OUS

The ous on the finish of those phrases seems like iss. It doesn’t sound like “home.”

Phrases ending in ANCE and ENCE

We don’t often make a distinction within the pronunciation of ANCE and ENCE endings. They each sound like ENCE.

absence, violence, expertise, convention, proof, affect, obedience

Pronunciation Apply:

attendance, steadiness, distance, entrance, resistance, efficiency, significance

Exceptions:

finance, advance, probability, look, trance (one-syllable phrases)
